The 21 Day Challenge: Day 4.
Take yourself on a date.
Research shows that we don’t like to be alone with our thoughts. We often don’t like them and are disturbed by them. We don’t realize how much control we don’t have over our train of thought. Understanding how our minds work is important, but also a process. Julia Cameron writes in her book, the Artist’s Way “Treating yourself like a precious object will make you strong.” This is the idea behind this activity. Love yourself. It’s become a loaded term not to be confused with selfishness or narcissism. If you cannot love yourself, you can’t love others. If you are poor company for yourself, what kind of company are you to others?
If you don’t love yourself, then what’s it all for.
Do something wonderful for yourself. Go out to eat, go for a drive, take a bath, go to a movie, give yourself permission to take the day/night/week off. Tell yourself that in this action, you will learn to trust that you want the best for yourself. And that you will take care of you.
Treat yourself like a precious object. It will make you strong.
