There are seven major chakras: root, sacral, solar plexus, heart, throat, third eye, and crown.1 The seven are divided into two categories, Matter and Spirit. Chakras were first identified in the Vedic writings as long as 1500 years ago. Chakras are referred to as ‘spinning discs of energy’ found throughout the body. How would you describe your mindset right now?
Mindset: The New Psychology of Success, a 2006 book written by Carol Dweck describes the modern idea of mindset. The concept is divided between a growth mindset and a fixed mindset. In Dweck’s own words those with a growth mindset are “individuals who believe their talents can be developed (through hard work, good strategies, and input from others)”.1 On the other hand, those with a fixed mindset tend to believe things are the way they are and there isn’t much to be done to make a change.(more…)
Euphoria, a teen drama on HBO starring Zendaya, has just kicked off its second season. The show is a phenomenon highlighting a plethora of modern issues that teens face such as drug addiction, sexual abuse and exploitation, intimate partner violence, and related mental health issues.(more…)

Without realizing it, I have read several of Steven Kotler’s books including Stealing Fire and The Rise of Superman. They were unique in both the subject material as well as the orientation from which the information was presented. With his latest release, The Art of Impossible, it was clear that we shared similar interests. Perhaps this is a question of nurture as we grew up in the same part of the world, Cleveland, Ohio, and was part of the same social culture, the punk rock scene.(more…)
